CHP VIN Verification is tomorrow for the Exocet . My fingers are crossed that all goes well. When I pulled into the driveway the other day after a long drive, the directionals had stopped working. I set it aside to debug later and now they work. Ugh. Here’s to hoping that they work great until after I leave the CHP lot.
The driver’s rear brake light has also mysteriously shattered. No idea how. I’ve patched it up with e poxy (they work fine outside of a small short which I fixed tonight) so again - fingers crossed.
Yesterday I met with what will be my first client for my Marketing & PR consultancy. I’m pretty thrilled at the prospect of not having unemployment drag on and on. I need to follow up with some other contacts as I think there’s a good amount of business in my extended network that can benefit from similar arrangements.
The CEO of the company that set me free also wrote and unsolicited recommendation on my LinkedIn, which was nice of him to do. I’m trying not to harbor any ill will, though it’s really tough when you were let go a couple months after getting a $65k /yr promotion but before any of the money actually hit the bank account. I imagine t hat will forever chap my balls.
I’m dead set on hitting the amount of money that I had coming , and then some, one way or another with minimal delay . My time and expertise are worth it.

Good luck out there bro.
Wish I had something half as exciting as the Exocet to help me unwind. Brake light or no

I too was let go right after a nice raise that I saw nothing of. Currently doing freelance work designing websites, marketing campaigns, and general online presence management for small to mid-size service companies.
Don’t take a shit job, know your worth! G ood luck with the new gig, but more importantly.... Good luck with the exocet. What are your plans for it once it's legal?

Are there any laws on headlight height? And I assume the lack of airbags and using a harness all of the time is also a law? I didn’t know exocets could be be Street legal, especially in California. But I suppose they only care about emissions generally.

It’s definitely easier to get street legal in some states than others. The only thing that the builder of mine had to go out of his way for in Colorado was a DOT glass windshield with a wiper. With that and all other basic operating equipment in place, they slapped on a state-issued VIN plate, titled it as an ASVE (assembled vehicle, no specific make/model) and it was good to go. Missouri simply treated it like any other used car when I bought it (with the CO VIN working just fine) , so now all I have to do is keep up with state inspection rules that are rife with “if originally equipped by the manufacturer” verbiage.
If I’m not mistaken, California also has a special title designation for kit cars and the like with more relaxed rules and exemptions, though the number available per year is limited. On the flip side of the coin, Texas recently revoked/denied titles to a bunch of Exocets, Dune Buggies, etc. and owners are currently trying to push a bill through the state legislature to get that fixed.

The top thing they care about is getting their fees and taxes. SB100 is the kit car law that allows for registration. It’s a total rigamarole but it usually gets you registered as a pre-smog (no emissions) car. You do need to comply with the light laws, which is checked through a brake and light inspection. In theory, the check today should only focus on the VIN. However, CHP has been known to reach into other areas at these checks (windshield, wiper, lights, etc).
